Bad Sunday
Yesterday, at church, we were told that Austin is too busy and hard to control in preschool, and it would be best if we could find a personal helper for him in preschool because he is too disruptive. The whole time I was being told this stuff, all I kept hearing was "you are a bad parent, you don't know how to make your kid behave". I know that is not what she was saying, but that is what I was hearing, and it made my whole day go bad. I guess the best thing to do would be to have him sit with us in service, because I doubt I'll be able to find someone who wants to give up their Sunday morning church service to sit with Austin in preschool. He starts his own preschool on Tuesday - Montessori preschool - so we'll just do our own Sunday School type lessons at home on Sunday afternoons. James is going to sit in on preschool with him next Sunday, just to see what's going on, but I'm sure that just having him sit with us on Sundays will be what will happen. He's just so busy. Hopefully this Montessori preschool will help him focus better. At least he's not being disprespectful to the teacher - just can't sit still! It still makes me feel like a lousy parent - especially when paired with the fact that I just can't seem to get him to potty train completely. Somedays, I tell you, I wonder if I really know what I am doing!

I get a letter from my five year olds kindergarten teacher everyday telling me that he won't sit still. I feel your pain! Truly I do!
oh Meegan. I am sorry to hear this. I got tired of the nursery worker bringing Bug to me each sunday and telling me he had a BAD day. Well, he has a bad day every day and I deal with it, why can't you deal with him for 1 hour each week. Ugggg!
It doesn't help that the nursery room has 25 kids in there, and is way to small. Ages 18 months to 3 years old. I am hoping that when his sunday school starts in January he will be in the 4year old group that it will go better. Smaller amount of kids should help.
I would love to hear how the Montisorri (sp) goes. I wanted to sign Bug up with the south hill one but just have run out of time.
I'm noticing a trend here...you're all talking about boys!
May I offer my 2 cents? :)
I taught 1st and 2nd grades for several years, and I would have to say that most little guys aren't necessarily ADD, they're B-O-Y! It's the way they're made. I have 2 of my own, and we've had the same problems in church.
Take heart, you're not a bad parent. It sounds like you have very healthy boys on your hands. I would highly recommend that you read James Dobson's book Bringing up Boys. He has some really good insight on little boys sitting still in school.
